RCCbc’s Rural Global Health Partnership Initiative: April 30 Deadline
The Rural Global Health Partnership Initiative offers grants to support partnerships between rural BC physicians or medical trainees who are committed to rural service and underserved communities in British Columbia (BC), Canada, and in developing countries. The goals of this initiative are to: Enhance capacity for generalism in rural BC; foster reciprocal learning in diverse health systems and community contexts; and demonstrate how global health (local and international) community partnerships can heighten awareness, create innovative solutions to healthcare challenges, and improve health outcomes.
Through this initiative, rural BC physicians and medical trainees with interest in rural medicine and global health can apply for funding to support global health partnership projects. Applicants may apply for grant categories up to $5000 and $10,000. RCCbc’s Rural Physician Research Support Project: April 30 Deadline
The Rural Physician Research Support Project aims to empower rural physician researchers, or new aspiring researchers, to pursue innovative rural research projects that contribute to advancing rural health in BC. Through this project, rural physician researchers can apply for research grants of up to $10,000 to support research activities. To be eligible, an applicant must be a BC physician with experience practicing rural medicine and demonstrable extensive connections to rural communities. The research must pertain to health in rural BC.

Rural Education Action Plan’s (REAP) Specialty Training Bursary: June 30 Deadline
REAP is offering a Specialty Training Bursary to medical specialty residents enrolled in a Canadian Specialty Training Program. Applicants must be in their final two years of residency and have been accepted to a position by a specialty department of a hospital in an RSA community in BC upon completion of their residency program. The bursary is $25,000/year to a maximum of two years. There is a return of service agreement attached to this bursary of one year in an RSA community in BC for every year of bursary funding. Family Medicine Residents are not eligible to apply. More information and the bursary application form is available on the REAP website. The deadline for 2021/22 fiscal year applications is June 30, 2021.
REAP‘s Rural Leadership Development Program: April 30 Deadline
REAP is currently accepting applications for the Rural Leadership Development Program. The purpose of this program is to increase opportunities for rural physicians to pursue leadership training and develop the skills and abilities to help bring system improvements that will benefit BC’s rural populations. Rural physicians who are pursuing formalized leadership training may apply for up to $15,000 to cover expenses. In addition, participants are offered a mentoring opportunity with a rural leader through UBC CPD’s Rural Physician Mentoring Program. Physicians may apply if they have been practicing in an RSA Community for at least nine months of the past year and if they have letters of support from their health authority and community.
