A patient perspective on accessing the ER during the pandemic

Submitted by BC Emergency Medicine Network

This month’s highlighted video from the BC Emergency Medicine Network is a short interview conducted by one of the Network’s patient partners.

Nancy Wood interviewed her neighbour, who spoke about her decision to go to the ER for a non-COVID-related emergency during the pandemic. Lucia explained her anxiety about going, the care she received, and ultimately her message to all BC patients – to not hesitate to visit the ER during the pandemic.

“It’s such a positive message and serves to reassure patients that it’s safe to visit the ER,” says Network communications coordinator Carolyn McKinnon. “It also describes what to expect in terms of Emergency Department safety protocols that patients can expect to encounter.”
