For the sixth year in a row, the Joint Standing Committee on Rural Issues (JSC) has approved a $1,000 stipend for any BC rural doctor interested in attending the Society of Rural Physicians of Canada (SRPC) Rural and Remote Medicine Course; this year the event will be held in Ottawa from April 23-25, 2020. The Conference theme is: ‘Rural Physician Advocacy – How to Save the World in Your Spare Time’. This event offers one of the largest rural medical conferences and gives rural doctors the opportunity to gain or upgrade vital skills, exchange knowledge, develop professional and social networks, and compare notes on the evolving field of rural medical practice. If you are a practicing BC rural physician who is interested in confirming your eligibility to receive the stipend, please email: RuralPrograms@doctorsofbc.ca. Stipends will be reimbursed for eligible rural physicians after the event with submit of a claim form and proof of registration. Claims must be submitted no later than July 25, 2020.
