Are you new to practice in rural BC and looking for a mentor to show you the ropes? Are you a seasoned rural physician and interested in mentoring a new colleague? The Rural Physician Mentoring Program is launching our next cohort in August 2018. Registration has been extended to July 15th for both mentors and mentees.
The program offers physicians who are new to practice in rural BC the opportunity to connect with a well-established and experienced colleague who can help support them as they get settled in practice, acclimate to their community and achieve their goals. Mentors in turn are able to pass on the fruits of their experience while developing and enhancing their skills as physician leaders.
And it’s free! There is no cost to join for mentees, and mentors are offered a $1200 payment per mentee. The program is certified for up to 40 Mainpro+ group learning credits / 5 MOC Section 1 credits.
See what past participants have said about the program:
“My mentor provided insights into challenges I experienced and also gave me confidence in practice knowing I was supported and had assistance available when needed.” – Past Mentee
“It is reassuring to have MDs who have worked in the province for a long time say… yes, I’ve had difficulty with the same thing and there are no straight lines or…here are some things you can think about. It takes a level of professional tension down. Someone is there for you.” – Past Mentor
