JSC announces improvements to rural locum programs

The Joint Standing Committee on Rural Issues (JSC) is pleased to announce the following improvements to the Rural Locum Programs effective April 01, 2018.

Rural GP Locum Program (RGPLP):

  1. An increase to the daily rate sliding scale to $900 – $1,170 dependent on a community’s rural point assessment.
  2. An increase to the weekend rate sliding scale to $2,450 – $3,185 dependent on a community’s rural point assessment.
  3. Obstetrics Enhanced Skills daily stipend increased to $100 to align with the General Surgery and Anesthesia Skills stipend of $100.
  4. Emergency On-Call stipend of $300 on days when On-Call is provided for the days the locum appears on the ER on-call rota (replaces $100 daily stipend).

Rural GP Anesthesia Locum Program (RGPALP):

  1. An increase to the daily rate sliding scale to $1,000 – $1,270 dependent on a community’s rural point assessment.
  2. An increase in the number of days for host physicians to 35.

Rural Specialist Locum Program (RSLP):

An increase in the daily rate to $1,500.
