Nominations for 2018 BC Rural Health Awards close Mar 15

BC Rural Health Award winners from 2015

If you haven’t yet submitted your nomination to honour an exceptional rural physician/healthcare team in your community, you’d better hurry! Nominations for the 2018 BC Rural Health Awards will close in two weeks on March 15, 2018! There are three categories for consideration:

Rural BC Community Award

The Rural BC Community Award identifies a community that has developed innovative and collaborative approaches and solutions to local healthcare issues, or supported and enhanced the sustainability of the rural health care services and / or providers within their community.

Communities can nominate themselves or be nominated by a third party.

Award of Excellence in Rural Medicine: Effective and Efficient Healthcare Partnerships in Rural BC

This year’s theme for the Award of Excellence in Rural Medicine in this category is Effective and Efficient Healthcare Partnerships in Rural BC, which will honour strong healthcare partnerships that enable excellent delivery of service. This may include partnerships between providers, between a provider and an administrator, between administrative units, or between multiple groups throughout the province.

Nominees for this category may only be nominated by a third party.

Award of Excellence in Rural Medicine: Lifetime Achievement

The Lifetime Achievement Award honors a rural physician who has dedicated his/her career to serving one or more rural communities throughout his/her career and is close to or already retired. Physicians must have worked a minimum of 15 years in rural practice to qualify for this recognition.

Candidates for this award must be nominated by a third party.

Award honorees will be announced at the RCCbc’s BC Rural Health Conference on Saturday, May 12 in Nanaimo. Recognition consists of a plaque and a cash prize of $2,500 for each category winner – these monies may be used to support a celebration in the recipient(s) home community. Funds remaining from the celebration should be used within the recipient’s practice or within the community*.
