Rural Physician Mentoring Program – sign up now for the Spring 2018 cohort!

Are you a physician who has recently started or will soon start to practice in rural BC and looking for a mentor to show you the ropes? Are you a seasoned rural physician who is open to mentoring someone new to the rural landscape? The Rural Physician Mentoring Program is launching a new cohort in April 2018. Registration is open until February 28th for both mentors and mentees.

The program offers physicians who are new to practice in rural BC the opportunity to connect with a well-established and experienced colleague who can help support them as they get settled in practice, acclimate to their community and achieve their goals. Mentors in turn are able to pass on the fruits of their experience while developing and enhancing their skills as physician leaders.

And it’s free! There is no cost to join for mentees, and mentors are offered a $1,200 honorarium per mentee. The program is certified for up to 40 Mainpro+ group learning credits / 5 MOC Section 1 credits.

“Starting to practice in a rural setting can be daunting and you can feel afraid and alone. Having someone who has been there with vast experience in medicine and life and who is well suited to be your mentor is such an amazing resource. It takes [away] some of the stress … knowing I had someone I can call if I get stuck” – Cohort 1 Mentee
