BC and Alberta sign PET/CT Scan Agreement

Submitted by Doctors of BC

A new agreement will remove administrative roadblocks and expedite care for some BC patients receiving treatment in Alberta.

The BC Ministry of Health (Ministry) and Alberta Health Services recently signed the agreement which means Alberta facilities will no longer need to  obtain funding pre-approval for BC residents to receive specific diagnostic services (PET/CT scans), as long as those services are medically necessary, performed by an appropriate physician, and comply with BC standards of care.

The full list of PET/CT scan procedures that do not require pre-approval can be found here.
