Dr. Davy Dhillon, Lead, GPA Network
The Rural Coordination Centre of BC (RCCbc) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Davy Dhillon of Vanderhoof, BC as the new lead for its GP Anaesthesia (GPA) Network.
Dr. Dhillon graduated with an MD from McMaster University and completed his rural family medicine residency at UBC in 2000. After spending time as a locum for rural and urban practices, Dr. Dhillon joined Médecins Sans Frontières and served in the Democratic Republic of Congo for a year. When he returned to Canada, Dr. Dhillon practiced in Inuvik, NWT before taking up GP Anaesthesia training at the University of Calgary in 2005. He spent two years practicing in Wetaskawin, AB before moving to Vanderhoof in 2008 where he currently lives with his wife and two (soon to be three!) children.
In addition to general practice, Dr. Dhillon also works in the emergency and surgical departments at Vanderhoof’s local hospital and has recently started providing GP oncology services.
In his role as Lead of the GPA Network, Dr. Dhillon will strongly focus on expanding continuing professional development for rural GPAs throughout the province. He will also continue collaborations with RCCbc’s Rural Obstetrics and Enhanced Skills Surgery networks to ensure that anaesthesia, obstetrical and surgical services are maintained and expanded in rural BC.
RCCbc welcomes Dr. Dhillon to its team and looks forward to working with him.
